HORIZON

Coffee, cocktail and snack bar

Aptly named as you look out over the horizon at the vivid blue sea through the day, to the stunning, ever-changing sunset, and finally to the dark, soft velvet of a Greek evening.

Kiriakos (a.k.a Kenny), and his team will offer you conversation in at least 5 languages (Greek, English, German,Italian and Polish), whilst you enjoy the laid back, unhurried, atmosphere for a day-time sandwich or a pre-dinner cocktail in the evening.

There are sun-beds directly in front of the bar, so you can pop up for a cold beer, soft drink, ice cream or coffee and perhaps enjoy a freshly baked baguette or ciabatta with different fillings, or a delicious salad with spicy chicken with a side dish of cheesy garlic bread for lunch.

In the evening, the mood and music changes, and the drinks menu inclues a huge array of exotic and unusual cocktails.Fruit cocktails; sharp cocktails; sweet cocktails; tangy cocktails; childrens cocktails; frozen cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktails - indeed just about any cocktail you can think of!!

Horizon Sunset

Your cocktail will be accompanied by reggae, chill-out music, and a mixture of hits from the last few decades to the present day.

Go for your pre-dinner drink to watch the sun go down and return later to enjoy the friendly atmosphere in wonderfully relaxing surroundings.

And yet more good news, 'Horizon' has Sky Sports so you don't need to plan your holiday around your favourite football fixtures!

Whatever time of day or night you choose to pass by 'Horizon' for a drink, ice-cream or snack, the memory of sitting on the beach, so close to the sea, watching the most fantastic sun-sets will remain with you.

Borsalino Cafe Bar

Centrally situated, the Borsalino Cafe is open from 10.00 until late serving a variety of coffees, cocktails, beers, soft drinks, ice-cream and anything else that you might like depending on the time of day!

Run by Nikos and Stella, with the very able help of their staff,  the Borsalino has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with some cosy corners.

For your entertainment there is a snooker table, Internet access and big screen televisions. Not to mention the good humoured bantering of the owners and the locals!

With lots of shady corners to sit in through the day, with views of the sea, the Borsalino is an ideal spot to go to shelter from the sun with and enjoy a long cold drink or a delicious ice-cream.

The intimate atmosphere after the sun has set makes it a good stopping off spot for evening drinks too.

NUMBER ONE

The oldest cocktail bar in Mastihari, having been here now for more than 20 years, 'Number One' has visitors who have been going back every year since it opened!! Situated one street behind the beach, it is handy to call in for your pre-dinner drink and still be able to take photos' of the sun-set.

Filled with an assortment of local Greek antiques, traditional tools, farm implements, radios, ceramic pots and memorabilia that Stefanos has collected over the years, it is worth going for a drink just to have a look around. The surroundings are quite unique

For sure there are things in there that you will never guess what they are - Stefanos will be happy to satisfy your curiosity.

'Number One' has an extensive range of draught beers including; Guiness; John Smith; Fosters; Pilsner Urquell; Mythos; Amstel and Strongbow Cider. You can sit and enjoy your drink around the outside bar, or find a hidden corner somewhere with a vine above your head dripping grapes, or next to a magnolia tree with its magnificent creamy flowers.

Not only beer of course is served, but a wide and varied selection of cocktails and long drinks.

In the fully air-conditioned bar inside, there is lots of room for dancing to 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's dance music where you can dance off the excess's of dinner!

Sky and BBC satellite TV show major sporting events from all over the world.

'Number One' is at your service every day from early to -as everywhere!- late.

'HALF TIME'

SWIMMING POOL AND BAR

If you prefer smoother waters for your swimming, then the ideal place for you is the 'Half Time' pool bar. Set on the main road going out of the village, (click on here for map ), not far to walk from anywhere, the pool bar gives you the ideal alternative to the beach and has free sun-beds for customers.

With a name like 'Half Time' then you might guess that the owner, Yiannis, likes football! Not only does he like football, it also means that he has a 5-a-side football pitch next to the pool which his customers can use free of charge. So, if the kids are all raring to go (and maybe a dad or 2!), you can knock the ball about and then cool off in the pool.

If the smaller ones find the 5-a-side a bit much, they can play in the playground area and splash about in the small pool.

If you want to spend all day at 'Half Time', no problem. It is open from 09.00 serving breakfasts, and the kitchen is open all day with a selection of burgers, pizza, sandwiches and salads. Closing time - there isn't one!

Carrying on the footballing theme, Yiannis has amassed a collection of football shirts which are displayed inside beside the big screen which shows all your favourite games on Sky TV.

When the sun gets too much outside, you can go and sit in the lovely shady terrace underneath the trailing vines and bougainvillea and enjoy an ice cold beer, or ice-cream.

All in all, not a bad way to spend a holiday!!!

Aplo Beach Bar cafe

Superbly situated at the top of the beach, the new Aplo Beach Bar cafe opened in the summer of last year. The owners of course are very well known to many of you; Christos and Lisette along with their son Georgios, had the old Aplo Bar in the village, and Lisette ran Fenareti Travel for many years.

Aplo Beach Bar Cafe

Lounging in a beautifully relaxing atmosphere with stunning views across the sea must be one of the best ways to enjoy time on your holiday.

Aplo Beach Bar Cafe

You can reach Aplo either by walking up the beach and turning left at the surf centre, or by walking up the street behind the beach and cutting straight across the field there. Either way, it is not far to walk.

The board tells it all - when they open and when they close!! A menu of light, freshly prepared snacks including baguettes, salads, club sandwiches, omelettes, garlic bread, ice creams and sweets are available until early evening.

A wide range of beers, spirits and cocktails are served, along with soft drinks and a variety of coffees. Indeed, with plenty of shady corners, you could probably send the day there and not need to move to find anything else!

If you wait until the sun starts to set you certainly won't go anywhere.

Aplo is open until the last person goes home and the inside of the bar is equally as inviting as the outside, with lots of interesting old paintings, photos and artefacts that Christos and Lisette have collected over the years.

Constructed with an eclectic mix of materials that perfectly match the natural surroundings, Aplo Beach Cafe Bar is a great place to visit at any time of the day - or night.
