Ouzo with the best

Greek Island? The Kalymnos Taverna, right on
the harbour front, entices you to sit and
while away your days in a truly Greek manner!
The Kalymnos Ouzeri has
been run by Periklies for the last 15 years
and he is more than ably assisted by Mixalis. Along with a great kitchen team,
headed by Valentina, they all work together
to create a 'horizontal' atmosphere!
The surroundings are
traditionally Greek - fishing nets and life
belts. The Greek island colours of blue and
white. A mixture of bottles and barrels to
remind you that Greece is famous for its
ouzo and wines - and that they are meant to
be enjoyed at leisure, in good company !
It goes without saying
that you need the suitable accompaniments
for your ouzo and wine and the Greeks have
got this down to a fine art with mezes.
A fine selection of
freshly grilled locally caught fish
liberally smothered in olive oil, oregano
and lemon sauce. Crisply fried whitebait;
salted cod; octopus; shellfish, served with
the freshest, tastiest salads; fried and
grilled cheeses; courgettes and aubergines
served with garlic sauce; local meat grilled
over charcoal to give it an incomparable
flavour, are just some of the delights
waiting for you.
To further add to your
enjoyment, a front row seat looking across
the harbour to the fishing boats and the
local ferry and hydrofoils going in and out
and a view of the sky changing colours as
the sun sinks below the horizon in the
evening.

open every day from lunchtime until whenever
